Major roof refurbishment works on ‘Sea Containers House’ South-Bank, London.

26th October 2012

MCM Replica Lead cladding and AlkorPlan membrane have been specified for the major roof refurbishment works on ‘Sea Containers House’ South-Bank, London.

Works to commence in November 2012.

Building History

Sea Containers House was originally conceived as a luxury hotel. Its location, in the heart of London’s business district, led to the decision to complete it instead as office space.

Its name comes from the former long-term tenant, Sea Containers.

In Spring 2011, a process began to gain planning permission for an extensive internal and external refurbishment of Sea Containers House. The east and west wings, which face the Thames, will remain offices, while the south wing will be renovated as the Mondrian Hotel London, bringing a part of the building back to its original intended use.
